Worn down teeth

If you have worn down your teeth from grinding, from stress, from lemon water, Coke a Cola or gastric reflux, they will be lacking in enamel. Sometimes its obvious that they are short and other times the dentist will be able to see that the teeth have been stripped back, without you even being aware of it. The teeth may appear yellow and short as the underlying dentine becomes exposed. Sometimes there is sensitivity and even pain and sometimes they just be short.

Dental bills can be very expensive as ceramic crowns are prescribed for every tooth. This clocks up to thousands of dollars. Fortunately there is another way. An alternative dental material is the white composite resin that fillings are made of. It is soft and pliable and can be moulded to each tooth before setting with the blue light to make up the new tooth at a new height. Of course just doing one tooth will not work as the bite needs to be levelled. All the teeth need to meet at the new height. As you can imagine, this takes some time. In this case 3 sessions of 3 hours.

The results show new strong restored teeth at a fraction of the cost of ceramic crowns. The only drawbacks are that composite resin is not quite as strong as ceramic so there is a risk of breakage, however when the composite is thicker it becomes stronger.
