Get to the dentist ASAP! We can relieve your extreme dental pain in one visit most of the time. It depends how far advanced the problem is.
If we are closed please call the Emergency Dentist Number. 0473374166.
Remove all food from the area using the toothbrush and floss. Do this frequently. Use mouthwash. Avoid sugar. If the dentist is closed, rely on pain relief medication such as ibuprofen (Nurofen) or paracetamol. The limit is 2 tablets every 4 hours of each medication. The suggested dosage (if you are able to take this medication) is to take 2 ibuprofen, then in 2 hours take 2 paracetamol, then in 2 more hours take 2 ibuprofen, then in 2 hours take 2 panadol. This is for extreme pain until you can get to the dentist. Ibuprofen works well if the dosage is kept up every 4 hours, to stay on top of the pain. Oil of cloves can relieve pain if the hole is open to the oil, but will not work if there is no visible cavity. Do not put aspirin on the tooth as it can burn the gums. Apparently raw garlic into the cavity eases the pain too.
Severe infections (swelling, redness, feeling ill, pain) need to be treated at the hospital ASAP if a dentist cannot be seen.
